One of Türkiye’s largest holding groups set out to modernize its critical Oracle database infrastructure by migrating from a Microsoft Azure IaaS environment to managed Oracle database services running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The core objectives of this transformation were to increase database performance, simplify operational management, upgrade to a more current Oracle Database release, and enable test and development environments to be provisioned far more quickly.
Within the scope of the project, the holding group’s Oracle database workloads were successfully moved from Azure IaaS to the PaaS-based database services offered on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and the database infrastructure was upgraded to a newer Oracle Database release at the same time. Thanks to the structured migration and upgrade methodology applied by InspireIT, the transition was completed with minimal downtime and the systems went live on the new platform without disruption.
As a result of the transformation, database performance improved by up to 3x, while the new Oracle capabilities became available for effective use. Provisioning times for test and development environments were also reduced significantly, increasing the agility of the IT teams.
The managed database services on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure also simplified operational processes considerably. With automated patch management and integrated backup and recovery mechanisms, database administration became more efficient and the manual operational workload was substantially reduced.
With the new platform, the holding group gained higher scalability, advanced security capabilities and greater operational resilience, resulting in a modern and sustainable database infrastructure aligned with its long-term digital transformation goals.
